Saturday was a beautiful Florida weather day, sunny, warm, with temperatures in the low 80's F. The motorcyclist have hit town. There is constant roar of thunder on the roads. The authorities have posted signage advising motorist to be vigilant and check mirrors for bikers in the blind spots. That being said, there is also more emergency vehicle sirens being heard. Ron and I headed over to another off site venue with many kiosk's of every biking part, clothing article, leather garments, memorabilia, lighting, sound system and exhaust, more noise, just what is needed. People watching is the best part of the show. We have seen bikes from Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick.
After supper, Ron Arabella, Helene and I headed to downtown Daytona's Main Street where the action takes place. The place was jammed with people and you bump your way along the sidewalk. We checked out the many bars and sights along the street. The bikes are parked by the hundreds along the sidewalks and there is a constant roar of the bikers driving up and down Main Street, reeving their engines and show casing their motorcycles. The local police are very visible in their patrol cars, on bicycles and Segways. They sneak up and take the keys out of the bike ignitions and write tickets for any imaginable offense. The crowds are well behaved considering the number of persons. The local newspaper reported that the Spring Bike Week brings over 300 Million dollars to the local economy.
Today's pictures are from yesterdays adventure.
